Private Piano Instructor
Greg Bueltmann grew up in Florissant, MO and began his piano training at four years-old, studying classical music under the direction of Mr. Howard Willman. Over the next four years, he played Mozart, Chopin, Beethoven, Bach and many other great artists, along with popular music such as Ebb Tide, The Impossible Dream and many others. During the next seven years, he studied with Betty Burns, learning music theory, finger exercises, more classical music, blues, jazz, and tools for improvisation. Once in high school, Greg played as much popular music as he could find and sharpened his skills with jazz and finger techniques to enhance his playing. He accompanied vocalists, played the piano for school plays and recitals, and even played dinner music in small local restaurants.
While studying Business Administration in college, Greg continued to play the piano at various hotel lounges including Stouffers Concourse and the Sheraton at Westport Plaza. He eventually found a position at Rick’s Café Americain in Des Peres, entertaining customers while they ate dinner or socialized at the bar. After graduating from the University of Missouri-St. Louis with a degree in Business Administration, he settled into a position at Transamerica Financial Services during the day and continued playing the piano at Rick’s Café at night. After several years, his business career became more demanding and he decided to leave Rick’s Café but continued to play private engagements and parties by request.
After starting a family and moving to Lake St. Louis, Greg realized he was missing his passion of playing the piano on a regular basis, so he began playing the piano for Masses and weddings at his church, Immaculate Conception of Dardenne (ICD), where he still plays15 years later. Greg also entertains customers (and has for the past nine years) at Von Maur department store in Lake St. Louis, while they have an amazing shopping experience. Playing the piano for others, making them smile, and using his God-given talent is not only important to Greg, it is essential in his life to bring him fulfillment and joy.
Greg joined Lacefield Music’s team of teachers almost two years ago, and is filled with energy and passion as he inspires his students to become who they are meant to be behind the keyboard, as his teachers did for him almost 50 years ago!
